MBLC Spring Virtual Meeting

An important forum for our shared learning and collaboration will be our MBLC Virtual Meetings, which will occur once in the fall and once in the spring. Each online meeting will begin with a webinar presentation, which will be followed by opportunities for discussion and connection in breakout rooms with educators from across the MBLC.  

This meeting on March 17 will focus on a question that every Mastery-Based school wrestles with: How can we hold high expectations for mastery and simultaneously improve our support systems so that students can meet a raised bar? We will be very lucky to hear from Alyssa Wallace, a TOSA for Instructional Interventions, Instructional Coach, and WASC Coordinator at Del Lago Academy in Escondido CA. Ms Wallace will explain how her school uses mastery-based and culturally responsive strategies to show students that it is never too late to learn and to help them gain a high level of proficiency.

MBLC Visit to Innovation Heights Academy

On Tuesday, March 24th, Innovation Heights Academy, a Cohort One MBLC School and Living Lab School, will be hosting an intervisitation. Innovation Heights has re-designed its programming over the past three years, putting the vision of culturally-responsive sustaining mastery-based learning at the center. The visit will focus on these three aspects of their exciting work:

• Co-teaching

• Use of Competencies

• Project-based Learning

Additional Details:

• Meals: Morning coffee and lunch will be provided

• Capacity: 15 guests maximum, with a maximum of 2 guests per school (first-come, first-served via the registration list; Cohort Two Schools only due to limited capacity.)

• Registration deadline is Friday, March 13th, 2026.

Spring Community Gathering [in-person]

Tuesday, May 5, 2026  | 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Location: The Conference Center at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport | 17801 International Blvd, SeaTac, WA 98158 

Meals: Light morning refreshments, coffee and lunch will be provided.

Registration: Please complete the official registration form by Friday, March 27th, 2026.

For those MBLC schools that indicated their interest in the survey sent earlier, we kindly ask that you input your responses into this official registration form. Clock hours will be available for this event, provided by SBE. Please indicate whether you intend to request clock hours in your registration form.
