In this article, Peter talks about the possible control A.I has over the world.
The ever-adapting world has brought forth the treacherous pit of the A.I. generation over the last few years. With the production of A.I. art being placed inside museums like the Denver Art Museum, many have wondered if A.I. may take over the world soon. In schools, there has been an unnecessary amount of A.I. being used to write essays or to help students with math homework. While the latter can help those students explain equations, writing essays for them does not improve their ability. The main question many ask is: will this reliance soon hurt us as a society?
Glance at the internet; it is smothered, top to bottom, with A.I. generated content. On Instagram, they now have an A.I. platform infused with the app called “Meta AI”. If loneliness was ever an issue then Meta AI can help, there are customizable options for personal AI bots as well, so people can craft their person (which can get weird). Instead of trying to find the good in AI and use it to assist in editing our work, Mr. Mark Zuckerberg has decided that everyone needs a fake buddy to fill a void in everyone's lonely lives. It feels like there is no way that A.I. can steal our jobs, or fake being a person. Right?
Of course, there is a way. The largest industry that has been struck with the issue of faking people is the music industry. All over TikTok, some of the trending songs are A.I. generated. Someone sings or raps a song they wrote themselves and puts an artist's voice over it to make it seem like it is really by that artist. The main culprit is an artist by the name of TWXN. This person in the shadows loves using another artist’s, mainly Playboi Carti’s, voice to produce music and dish it out like they are Carti. On TikTok (previously mentioned), the song “Telescope” blew up and, of course, TWXN was behind the creation of it. Not only are they copying Carti’s voice, but they are copying Carti’s flow, sound, mannerisms, literally everything. They have gone too mainstream for their good, overtaking other artists like a similar style artist like Destroy Lonely, the good Samaritan.
Will A.I. take the world over in the upcoming few years? No, of course not, never ask that question again. Although there is evidence that it can replace people in certain areas, while TWXN still uses its vocals and just copies Carti’s voice over it, it still utilizes A.I. to perfect it. The art industry has also grasped the idea that A.I. art should count in fairs and be placed in museums, as mentioned before in Denver. All this seems small at the start, but over time, as AI progresses, it will slowly take over the bigger jobs, but it will be fine for the time being.
