Prom is a tradition that has been celebrated by students since the late 1800s. The idea of the promenade originated from ancient Greek formal banquets known as “symposia”. According to History, these banquets often featured “lavish dinner parties, theatrical performances, speeches, debate, music and general revelry; the gatherings also involved excessive wine drinking.” Additionally, the ancient Romans celebrated a young man’s coming-of-age party, similar to Greece’s banquets, which had the name “convivium”. 

This year's promenade at Grants Pass High School was a beautiful, enchanting night for many. Prom court this year included Tim Hart, Braden O Brien, Nate Basset, Evan Valenzuela, Gizelle Kinzler, Samantha Willet, Britney Fisher, and Kaidence Groves. With the theme centered around the movie Tangled, hues of pink and purple danced around in the night. Sparkles hung from the ceiling, glittering in the darkness. Flowers hung from elegant arches, and fairy lights lit up the school.  When asked about her experience at prom, Tessa Hager, a senior at Grants Pass High School, states: "It was a beautiful senior prom, my last dance. And it was the most fantastical one that I have ever attended." Others describe it as being otherworldly, like walking into a palace. It seems like this year's prom was definitely one worth attending.
