Have you ever thought of a book, game, or cartoon that has not become live-action yet, and you are desperate for certain actors to be in the live-action version? That's what this column is for!
This month is about my overall casting choice of the live-action Tangled. For anyone who did not watch Disney growing up, Tangled is about a lost princess going outside her castle for the very first time to follow her dreams through danger. Half of that danger ends up being the love of her life. Also, not to brag, but for those who do not follow Gotham's Mockingbird on Tiktok, I tagged Disney in my fancast about Tangled and got almost 40 likes with 311 views, My Tik Tok, which beat actor Ben Barnes' Tik Tok campaign to be cast as Flynn, by the way. Be happy with me.
Rapunzel is a delusional sunshine-and-rainbows girl, who just wants to see lanterns and never questions Gothel about why there are theories of her still being alive in the dino ages. She never wanted to get married to a man and never wanted to communicate with actual, nice people. Let me remind you that her coping mechanism through all of this was an iguana.
Lizzy Greene as Rapunzel would be iconic. Both are blonde and have the same eye color, even though she does not actually live in Germany, where the story takes place, and lives ten hours away. We will make it work. Lizzy's similar roles are Sophie Dixon from A Million Little Things and Ashley from The Takeover. In both roles, the characters run away from problems and get excited.
Hook Hand is the lead thug of the snuggly duckling. He was the first guy to protect Rapunzel as soon as she left her tower. Really, Eugene? You call yourself a ladies' man when a thug can be a gentleman way before you. He's intimidating. the answer to his thugness is also in the name. Sometimes, Eugene I wish you actually were the fake decoy of yourself on the boat near the end of the movie because the decoy is better behaved than you.
Chris Sullivan has enough mustache for this role. He also has a ton of Broadway singing experience. I don't think a person could act as someone who plays the piano and sings without having singing experience. Chris's similar roles are Toby from This Is Us, Orankle from Adopt A Highway, Victor Blue from Consuming Spirits, and Tony from Salden: Life In The Woods, all roles in which the characters want something more in their life.
Big Nose is one of the sweetest people in the Snuggly Duckling that, in reality, does not look like a killer. He just wants to be loved. His method of love is watching his love interest intensely row a boat. This is weird, but it is nothing compared to a bunch of Vikings secretly being musicians. Also, notice the fact that the only time he gets mad is when Flynn does not want to sing. If only he knew the "Huh? Uh, hi there! I'm Mickey Mouse!" type-of-world he mentally lives in.
Don't get mad at me. This is just for fun and games: Pete Davidson, the comedian, playing a character in love? Something you wouldn't expect, right? I mean I would try love again if I got dissed by Ariana Grande, as well. Pete's similar roles are Kevin Gill from Dumb Money, Gary from Meet Cute, and Marmaduke from Marmaduke-- all similar roles who think a bit of change is for the better.
Eugene Fitzherbert,a.k.a Flynn Rider, is the most beloved male Disney character who is a thief and later turns into a prince to ever exist. He gets into a lot of trouble with almost every character in this movie, but he is still trying to make amends-- sort of. Ask Mother Gothel's melting witchy corpse that somehow does not haunt Eugene when he was the one that took the crown.

Drake Roger as Eugene would mentally save lives. Their voices sound similar. Both are into blondes, and have the same nose, which is a BIG DEAL if he is going to say that they still can't get his nose right. If Drake was Flynn, I can 100% guarantee you that the smolder would not be cringey. Rodger's similar roles are John from Terra Beach and Conor from Not Alone. Both roles are very clumsy, cocky, selfish, and have no idea what they are doing.

Mother Gothel is the main antagonist in Tangled. Apparently, she's an old woman who kidnaps a baby just so she can look young and attractive instead of looking like Yzma from The Emperor's New Groove. She's mean, she's cruel, she blackmails people way before blackmailing was even a thing, so let's respectfully stop fantasizing about someone who is older than dust. Winona Ryder's okay, but Mother Gothel's gross.
Winona has got the healthy looks for this role. The hair, the face, the lips, and the nose. All of her similar roles, like Kim from Edward Scissorhands, Susanna Kaysen from Girl Interrupted, and Joyce Byers from Stranger Things connect to this character because they all get easily hot-headed when a man breathes the wrong way.
Sideburns is one out of the two compliances for Eugene, who becomes Gothel's right-hand man when the search for the lost princess's crown starts. However, it is unclear how the two met Eugene, Flynn, or whatever the heck you want to call him. The producers did not even explain that aspect of the plot in the series when they had the chance and I hate it.
The people of the internet wanted the Hemsworth brothers, specifically, to be a part of the movie for years. Zachary Levi (the voice of Mr. Can't Get My Nose Right) has a very clear, platonic bromance with Chris Hemsworth, as shown in multiple old tweets from Zach on Twitter. Hemsworth's similar roles are Steve Abnesty from Spiderhead, Nick Hathaway from Blackhat, and Kale from A Perfect Getaway- all roles that have troubled pasts and are mistrusting.
Patchy is Gothel's left-hand man. He kind of has to see left; he can't see right. Patchy is the brother who complains a lot more than Sideburns. He does not necessarily want to follow his brother's orders all of the time but, without the other brother, the brain cells don't work properly. He's Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. Who ends up being the actual dumb one? No idea.
Like I said before, the Hemsworth brothers are a huge demand for this movie. Tik-Tok sees that, YouTube sees that, and My Cast sees it, as well. My Cast says that, over the past few years, 1,142 people wanted the brothers to be a part of that many roles. It does not look a lot compared to written in numbers but it is a lot. Liam Hemsworth's similar roles are Gale Hawthorne from The Hunger Games, Teddy McSwiney from The Dressmaker, Dwayne McLaren from Cut Bank, and Michael Nankervis from Poker Face-- all characters who think they can be indepandent but something bad happens to them instead.
King Fredrick is likable and unlikable, he's partly the reason why I couldn't stand watching any more of the separate series: because he's annoying and delusional. What kind of king still despises his own son-in-law, even though he has been proving his loyalty for three years? KIng Frederick, you hate Gothel, but it feels like you agree with her.
Damon Runyan looks like he could be the live version of King Frederick. He gives off a lot of royal dad energy, even outside of the acting world, but I am still going to compare some roles before I get too carried away. Damon's similar roles are Jesper Nix from Anon, Gavin from Valentine's Day Ever After, and Emmett Higgins from Midnight Masquerade-- all roles that somehow get surrounded by violence without realizing it.
Queen Arianna is probably one of the favorite Disney moms there is. She is kind, understands her daughter, and might be Ariel's secret mother in another Disney universe. We never know. She is way more forgiving than Fedrick because, as soon as she sees the satchel guy, she seems to think: "You brought my daughter home with zero scratches on her. You're family now." She's so chill about him that she barely brings him up in the series.
Julie Bowen as one of her voice-acting characters would actually work. The eyebrows, face, and eyes. I don't need to search the entire Google history of actors. It works. I can finally sleep now. Thank goodness. Julie's similar roles are Patricia Cavell from The Fallout, Gail from The Mix-Tape, Peaches from Knife Fight, and Principal Weller from Kids In America-- all roles that are responsible and in charge.
In conclusion, I have Tangled up this Fancast for now. Have a great year!
