Cartoons!! Most kids’ favorite shows to watch after a long day of school. However, cartoons can be for anyone. Watching cartoons gives comfort and joy, quirkiness, and interest in the animation. In 1992, Ted Turner created the Cartoon Network. It is the first ever channel to show cartoons at all times. Turner found the content they wanted to use by acquiring MGM’s Library and Fleischer Studios. In 1993, the first cartoon to come out on Cartoon Network was The Moxy Show, which ran from Dec 5-25. Now, it is time for me to describe to my readers some of the top-tier cartoons that could become their very own favorites.

Steven Universe is a joyful, sensitive, loving, life-threatening show for the characters in it. According to the Fandom website, this cartoon is created by Rebecca Sugar and centers around a teenage boy named Steven that lives with The Crystal Gems, a team of magical guardians who protect the earth from danger, after his mom passed to keep him alive. The first episode was posted on Sugar’s Dad’s Youtube in May 2013, which led to the show premiering in Nov. 2013 in the United States. Each year, until 2016, a new season came out. In 2016, however, two seasons were split to create shorter seasons. Finally, in 2019, the fifth season finale was released. The plot of this show is that The Crystal Gems are a group of Gems established by Pink Diamond under the disguise of Rose Quartz. In almost every episode, the Crystal Gems (Pearl, Garnet, and Amethyst) have to protect the earth from different evil threats. During all of this, Steven’s dad, Greg Universe, lives in his van and is still coping with Steven’s mom, Rose Quartz, being gone. Overall, this show is crazy, magical, and definitely deserves to be watched.

Regular Show is an adventurous cartoon made by J.G. Quintel, which started in Sept. 2010 and ended in Jan. 2017. According to the Denofgeek website, the story behind this show is about two best friends, a blue jay named Mordecai and a raccoon named Rigby. They work together at the park near them for their boss, Benson, a gumball machine with anger issues. They also work with their friends. Skips, Pops, Muscle Man, and Hi Five Ghost, who all have scattered personalities. Mordecai and Rigby have a job assigned to them every day, but get distracted by a random conflict that ends up destroying the land and/or house, which always makes Benson upset. In the beginning of this show, Mordecai has a love interest named Margaret, a red-breasted robin. Working at the coffee shop with her is Eileen, who becomes Rigby’s love interest later in the show. Mordicai tries everything to be with Margaret but is always a nervous wreck. However, he always has Rigby by his side to help him no matter what. This show really will make viewers laugh and find the meaning of a true best friend.

Adventure Time is a crazy, brave, and random cartoon created by Pendelton Ward and has a whopping 10 seasons. The Rolling Stones states that this series is about a teenage boy named Finn and his magical shape-shifting dog named Jake. They are the “heroes” of The Land Of Ooo, and are always on unusual adventures to save the kingdoms. Jake has a magical rainicorn girlfriend named Lady, who speaks Korean, and is Princess Bubblegum’s companion.

Throughout the first four seasons of the show, Finn has an overwhelming crush on Princess Bubblegum, but she never acknowledges his love because she is the ruler and very much older than him but, hey, you never know: maybe you will find out it is for different reasons or maybe Finn’s love interest will change. However, the other princesses of Ooo try to catch Finn’s attention because he is the life-saving hero that they all find charming.
Later, viewers meet Marceline The Vampire Queen, a wild rocker girl who has a mischievous personality and is rarely intimidated. She gets close to Finn and Jake, but lives alone and misses her old life with Simon, also known as The Ice King. Ice King is the villain of the story. Some people could say he has a big heart and just wants friends but does not know how to approach because he has always been seen as a villain. However, he causes much conflict for Finn and Jake to handle. Ice King is lonely, and only hopes of marrying a princess.
Generally, this show is very much detailed and fun to watch and get sucked into. This cartoon is a personal favorite and I hope everyone likes it as much as me-- so get watching! Beware: there is a lot of childish humor.
Steven Universe, Regular Show, and Adventure Time are the best cartoons. People that enjoy watching these might also love We Bare Bears, Amazing World Of Gumball, Clarence, and so many more. All of these cartoons can be found on Hulu from Cartoon Network.
