Marching band is a required part of both curricular ensembles at GHS. The Marching Black Hawks perform a field show during halftime of the homecoming football game each year. They also march in 3 parades each year. The Homecoming Parade, Grafton Holiday Parade and the Grafton Memorial Day Parade.

Water, water, water(or Gatorade, etc.) It's summer so it will likely be hot so make sure to bring water. We also ask that a few parents sign up to bring water/Gatorade so we have plenty for everyone.
Good walking shoes. As you might expect, during marching camp(and drumline camp) we do quite a bit of walking around so make sure to bring good shoes to walk around in. Your feet will thank you.

Every year our big marching performance is the halftime show during the homecoming game. We spend about 2.5 months preparing for the show. Summer band camp will be the last week in July. The schedule for camp week and more info about band camp can be found on the band camp page.
After band camp we have one more marching rehearsal before school starts and then one evening rehearsal per week until the field show.
Marching band is led by both the director as well as the Drum Majors. Drum Majors are selected in the spring for the following year. More info can be found on the Student Leadership page.
Black tops. This way if your collar happens to show it blends in.
Black bottoms, just keep in mind the uniforms do get warm so shorts are a good option(aside from the holiday parade you'll need the warmth).
BLACK SHOES AND SOCKS. There may be some leniency with the tops and bottoms, there is no compromise with footwear. If you do not have any there are extra shoes in the band room, however, shoes that fit correctly are not guaranteed.
