Due to the pandemic, everyone was in a worldwide quarantine. Because my sixth-grade year was cut short, it felt like the longest summer in history, yet seventh grade came faster than ever. The first few weeks were a struggle because we had had more than five months of a break from school, and because of COVID 19, we had to start the school year completely online. During this time, the school day didn’t start until eleven o’clock in the morning, and we were given much less work because everyone was still adapting to the learning conditions. Although, being home for all of this proposed a whole new set of problems. Having video games, television, and the ability to use your phone without being caught causes a major distraction from your work. Also, having friends and family that are having just as much of a hard time as you, pulls you away from your work to help them. For these reasons, many people, including me, had problems with keeping their grades up.
Luckily, as soon as I was able to come back face-to-face, I had no problem pulling my grades to where they’re supposed to be. I had to re-learn how to have better time management, be able to go beyond the minimum, and how to never give up when something seems hard. As of now, I always turn in my assignments on time, I surpass expectations to get better in everything I do, and most of all, I never fail to face a challenge head-on. Despite all the hardships that people faced during the pandemic, I believe that it gave me a chance to change my old routines, and become better as an individual.
