In Medieval Times, people would use heraldry to represent what kingdom they were from. Heraldry is where certain designs are displayed on armor to represent certain kingdoms. These Kingdoms would mostly use the designs on shields, which is why for this project, we were told to choose at least four of our favorite things, and sculpt them out on a clay shield. Because the shields in the Middle Ages represented kingdoms, theses shields would represent ourselves
This depicts the process of me cutting out the shape of my shield to later sculpt on.
This picture shows me carving out an "X" shape in my shield to section off some of my favorite things.
I used a stamp to create the music notes seen on the top section of the shield.
At this point, I was about half way finished with carving my shield.

On the top section of the shield, there are two lines of music lines with notes on them. This represents my love for music, especially playing it. On the right of the shield, you can see a paw print, with a background of leaves. The animal tracks show my love for wildlife and animals. Along with that, I have an outdoor scene for the bottom section, including a tree, grass, and hills. This is because I spend most of my free time outside, if I can. For my final part of my shield, there are footprints walking across the section, and I added a book on top of that. One of my favorite things to do is read, and the footprints represent how I journey through a book as I read it.
