Innocent people around the world have been accused of doing a crime they did not commit. Those people usually call in a lawyer to defend them in court. If they hired an inexperienced lawyer, the judge will not take away the charges of innocent people.


Becoming a lawyer usually takes 7 years of full-time study after high school—4 years of undergraduate study, followed by 3 years of law school. Also, lawyers would need the Juris Doctor (JD) degree. After lawyers complete those requirements, they would not need additional courses. Lawyers on average, work around 50 hours a week depending on if they are working overtime. Lawyers get paid $56.81 an hour on average. Lawyers get only get 20 days a year of vacation time. Some extra skills that could be handy while being a lawyer are active listening, speaking, reading comprehension, critical thinking, and complex problem-solving.


Some of the perks of being a lawyer are Medical and dental plans. Short- and long-term disability plans. Health care reimbursement account through pre-tax deductions. 401(k) retirement savings plan. Domestic partner benefits. Life insurance. Firm-paid business travel accident insurance. Also, firm-paid accidental death and dismemberment insurance. A few perks of being a lawyer are that they can help people that are being awfully accused. Being a lawyer will increase your thinking skills a good deal. Also, they will speak more professionally and clearer to people. A few negatives of being a lawyer are clients can be quite demanding. Law schools can cost a fortune. Digitalization is a threat to lawyers. The working conditions of being a lawyer are that they work mostly in offices. However, some travel to attend meetings with clients at various locations, such as homes, hospitals, or prisons. A couple of important things that lawyers do are identify implications for cases from legal precedents or other legal information. Provide legal advice to clients. Represent the interests of clients in legal proceedings. Interview claimants to get information related to legal proceedings. Meet with individuals involved in legal processes to provide information and clarify issues.


Lawyers are needed in the future because there will always be people that are being often accused of doing crimes that they didn’t do. Lawyers are here to defend the client. The reason that this will be a good fit for me is that I like to argue with facts instead of opinions. This will make a good lawyer whenever defending a client. One of my skills is that I will always stay calm during any situation to fully think through the actions that I’m going to take.
