Isaac Martinez: Making My Way Into Middle School

At first it was a little hard leaving elementary, but eventually I got past it. Moving to Middle School was exciting, all the new teachers and classes that I will be in. Most of my classes were Pre-AP classes except for my electives, like Spanish, Art. There was a big, long schedule mixup in the beginning of the year. Near the end of 5th grade, I asked for Band as the elective I wanted the most, but because of this schedule mixup I had Art instead. It got confusing too, because I was supposed to be in Encounters, but on my schedule I had regular Reading. Eventually my schedule got fixed but it took a couple of months. So, after it did I had my right classes, Band and Encounters which were the ones I was supposed to have. As the year went by, I memorized where all my classes were, so that I wouldn’t get lost.

My favorite part of the day was lunch and my favorite classes were Band and Encounters. The other classes I had were fun, but not as much as others. Like Encounters, it was fun because we would do cool projects, and it was near the end of the day on my schedule. Some of the projects we did were Medieval boxes and clay shields. Band was my favorite elective once I had it. I like Band because I learned to play notes on my Instrument which was the Clarinet. Up to this day I’m still in Band playing the Clarinet and learning actual songs. But because of the schedule mixup that lasted too long affected the band. The first beginner band concert was just with mouthpieces. This all took place during 6th grade.

Then this happened, as time passed during the first or second day of spring break school was cancelled for a week. After a couple days passed school had to be virtual because the CoronaVirus pandemic started. Being in virtual school was a little weird at first because all the getting used to things. Then sooner or later I was able to understand all the virtual stuff. Summer happened all inside, which I turned twelve years old during the Summer Break. The new school year started and I was now a seventh grader. School is still virtual if your parents decided to be virtual. I was virtual and still am, but for safety. The semester started around August 22nd. Already almost 5months from my 7th grade year have passed. But, the CoronaVirus has been keeping people inside for almost a year.
