The Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) is a specialized high school program in Ontario that allows students to earn their Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) while focusing on a specific economic sector. Students register in Grade 10 to participate in their Grade 11 & 12 years of secondary school.
Students complete a bundle of 8-10 courses in their chosen field, earn industry certifications like first aid and CPR, and gain practical experience through cooperative education placements. Upon completion, students receive a diploma with an SHSM seal, a detailed SHSM record, and formal recognition on their Ontario Student Transcript.
