The Basics

ASAD is an innovative program by Thames Valley District School Board (TVDSB) designed to help high school student-athletes, from Grade 9-12, excel in both academics and athletics while staying close to home. This program is looking to target, High School-aged student-athletes from grades 9-12 competing at regional, provincial, national, and international levels.

The open house will be taking place at the following date and time: Wednesday, December 3 from 6:30–8:00 p.m.

How ASAD Works

Students split their day between:

ASAD London Campus: Strength and conditioning or sport-specific training.
Home TVDSB School: Academic classes.

Students remain full-time secondary students, ensuring eligibility for next-level sports and education opportunities in Canada, the U.S., and internationally.

Academic Component

Follows Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum.

Students maintain the standard 30-credit pathway to graduation.

Daily schedule:

Two academic periods at ASAD.
Two academic periods at home school.

Credits earned at ASAD include:

Health and Physical Education credit.
One additional credit per semester.

Tools provided: Google Classroom, Brightspace, Chromebooks.

Goal: Maintain academic readiness for post-secondary education.

Athletic Component

Tailored athletic development plans aligned with Long-Term Athlete Development Model.

Collaboration with Provincial and National Sport Organizations.

Mental health awareness and support included.

Students encouraged to join home school sports teams for regional/provincial competition.

Coaches:

Certified through NCCP or CSCS.
Highly recommended by Provincial/National organizations.

Athletic Streams Offered

Hockey
- On-ice training twice weekly with Total Package Hockey (TPH).
- Goalie-specific training by Elite Canadian Goaltending.
- Three strength and conditioning sessions weekly.
Volleyball
- Court sessions twice weekly at Fanshawe College.
- Three strength and conditioning sessions weekly.
Soccer
- Pitch sessions twice weekly at BMO Centre.
- Three strength and conditioning sessions weekly.
Football
- Field sessions twice weekly at BMO Centre.
- Guest coaches and specialized training.
Individual Sports Stream
- For athletes in sports like basketball, lacrosse, figure skating, baseball, cycling, gymnastics, rugby, wrestling, etc.
- Five days a week of conditioning and individualized programs.

Location

ASAD classroom and training facilities are primarily at Western Fair Sports Centre, and the Komoka Wellness Centre
Technical sessions at specialized venues (Fanshawe College, BMO Centre).
