Events

In a traditional school year, the A.B. Lucas S.S. Music Department has several scheduled events to enhance the school culture and help to make connections with the community at-large. Between the Remembrance Day Assembly, Commencement, Pep Rallies and Assemblies, to organizing the logistics for concerts, Coffee Houses and social events, students have the opportunity to experience the behind-the-scenes work that takes place to make these experiences a reality.

To take an active role in helping with all of the happenings of Viking Music, students are encouraged to get involved with our Music Council, where there are several different roles and responsibilities available to all skills sets and talents. From creating posters, to supporting social media platforms, to creating and implementing new event ideas, you are bound to find something that works for you! See Mr. Stevenson for more information.

Our Coffee Houses take place twice a year, providing an opportunity for all students to display their individual talents and to work together collaboratively in smaller ensembles, displaying an array of talent, genres, and musical acts.

In addition, each year A.B. Lucas Music performs four concerts featuring the various ensembles within the program, alumni guest artists, and soloists. Each concert is uniquely created to give students the opportunities to experience a broad spectrum of musical styles and levels of performance.

From Bach to Bon Jovi, we have done it all! Over the years we have had specially-themed concerts, such as: Salute to the Academy Awards, T.V. Favourites, and our own version of Audience Karaoke - featuring music from the 1950s to today. There is something for everybody at an A.B. Lucas Music Concert!
