Why Take Music at Lucas?

From a nurturing environment, to meaningful performance experiences, to an authentic development of 21st century skills, the Viking Music Department strives to meet the needs of all students. There are several opportunities for students to get involved and take on leadership roles throughout the school year, creating deep-rooted memories and cultivating friendships that last a lifetime!

INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC

All instrumental music courses are scheduled during students' normal timetables. Students learn a variety of musical and interpersonal skills, building on their personal musicianship each year. See Mr. Stevenson or Ms. Murawski for more information.

VOCAL MUSIC

All vocal music courses occur during period 3 lunch on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Choir rehearsals are on Tuesday and Thursday. Students enrolled these vocal music courses receive 1 credit per school year, in addition to their scheduled courses during the regular school day.

For the 2020-2021 school year, all Vocal Music classes are taking place online through Google Classroom. This option is available to students in-person, as well as virtual remote learners attached to A.B. Lucas S.S. All are welcome to join choir! See Ms. Murawski for more information.

BAND REPERTOIRE

A. B. Lucas has two bands for repertoire courses. Grade 9 and 10 students participate in the Intermediate Band and Grade 11 and 12 students participate in the Senior Band. Students enrolled in repertoire courses receive half a credit per year, in addition to their scheduled courses during the regular school day.

Intermediate Band rehearses Wednesday and Friday at 7:00 A.M. Senior Band rehearses Tuesday and Thursday at 7:00 A.M.
