University Applications

IMPORTANT NOTE: Students require six Grade 12 U or M level courses to apply to university in Ontario.


Researching University Programs:

This website shows entry requirements for every university program at every university in Ontario:

Select the PROGRAMS button, then use keyword search, or search by category. See video below for instructions

Students can compare programs by both grade range (average needed to be accepted) and prerequisites (six 4U/4M courses). Click the checkmark beside programs to compare them.


Also check www.ontariocolleges.ca. Many colleges are now accredited to offer university degrees which also require six 4U/4M courses to apply. Search Bachelor's programs.


Applying to University

How: complete the online application form at www.ouac.on.ca using the “101 Form”. You will need a PIN number to access the website which can be picked up in the Guidance office in November.

This website www.ontariouniversitiesinfo.ca is very helpful to find out the programs that are offered at every university in Ontario, including prerequisite requirements and grade cut-off averages. Use the “Find a Program” button.

When: there will be an announcement made when PIN numbers are available to be picked up in the Guidance office. The deadline to apply is Jan. 13, 2023, however it is recommended that applications be submitted before Christmas holidays to avoid delays as the website gets busier.

Cost: $150 to apply to any 3 programs at up to 3 different universities. Additional programs can be chosen for a fee of $50 each.

1. Sign up in Guidance for school recruiter visits in September/October (see Grad Guide or the Grad Classroom for dates)

2. Visit the UIP or the CIP Information evenings/events

3. Sign out college and university viewbooks in Guidance

7. Make an appointment with your Guidance Counsellor to assist with your research.

8. Call or email the academic advisers from the school you are interested in to get specific questions answered. Contact info is available on school websites, viewbooks and from your Guidance Counsellor.


9. Visit the school’s Open House or sign up for a tour during the year. Getting a feel for the campus can help you make a decision.
