September News
Hello everyone!
Welcome back to school! I hope you all had a wonderful summer. I am so happy to be back at school.
We do have a few allergies in our classroom- specifically milk, eggs, sesame and coconut. So, we need to be very allergy aware. We have chatted as a class about the importance of washing out hands with soap and water to keep our classmates with allergies safe. We will continue to discuss this throughout the year.
I am looking forward to a very exciting year. Please note that most communication will be through the Webpage so please try to have a look every now and again, as I will update it on a regular basis. If you are not able to access the Webpage, please let me know. Please check the school page and classroom page for updates as new dates will be added for upcoming events.
We are happy to have Miss McComb in our class. She is a teacher candidate from Althouse College. She will be in our classroom starting Monday, September 9, 2024 until October 11, 2024

The first few weeks we will be spending time getting to know each other and learning routines to provide your child with a safe and positive learning environment.
Our language focus is poetry. We will be learning to write a variety of different forms of poetry.
In mathematics, we are working on numbers and learning to read numbers. The focus is on place value, learning how to create numbers using place value mats and hundreds blocks. We will learn to skip count (counting by 2's, 5's, etc. - starting at different numbers on a hundreds chart). It would be beneficial to have your child read large numbers at home. Graded 2'ss will be working on numbers to 200 and Grade 3's will be working on numbers to 1000. We will be learning to organize, analyze and sort data.
In science we will focus on Grade Two will work on air and water in the environment. Grade Three's will be focused on soils in the environment.
Please remember to read for at least 20 minutes everyday.
