March News
Well March is here! It is hard to believe. March Break begins March 10th until March 14th. Everyone is very excited for The Little Mermaid and they have been busy practicing. Please have a look for a note coming home about costumes and dates for the school shows. All of the primary children are involved in the production. Letters have been sent home and are attached on Google Classroom and an email. Costumes are due at school on March 19th. Please have the costumes on a hanger labelled with a cover (garment bag / garbage bag).
We have many future engineers in the making. Some great minds and wonderful thinking going on with all the building challenges we have been working on over the past few weeks. We will be building Rube Goldberg Machines fin Grade 2's and Bridge building and an Egg Drop Challenge for the Grade 3's.
In language, we are working on comprehension skills and proper sentence structure. We are focusing on paragraph writing. We have been working on letter writing and writing persuasive letters to go home. So be prepared to be persuaded.
In math, our focus will be on fractions, adding subtracting, muitiplication and division. Please practise these skills at home. Talk about fractions and where we use them. Play games to help with adding and subtracting.
We will be finishing our science unit on simple machines (Grade 2) and structures (Grade 3). In grade 2, will beginning our study on people and environments and global communities. We will be comparing countries around the world and creating projects to display our knowledge. In Grade 3, we will be studying life in Ontario. We will be creating projects on life in Ontario and comparing different places in Ontario.
