Welcome to November!

Don't forget we have a P.D. day on Friday, November 15, 2024. Progress reports go home on Friday, November 8, 2024. 

In reading, we are learning new strategies that will help us understand what we read. Our main focus over the next few weeks is retell, visualization, making connections and questioning.  When reading with your child ask questions to help them understand what they are reading.

In writing, we  will begin  to work on procedural writing. We will be looking at various types of procedural writing such as: recipes, games, instructions, etc. We will be writing different pieces of procedural writing.  We are learning to write proper sentences. We are learning to add detail to our sentences, use proper punctuation and leave spaces in between our words. We are learning to chop up words for word work.  

In math,  we are working on  patterning,  measurement of  time, and length, number sequence to 200, and graphing for Grade 2.  Grade 3 will ne working on patterning, time, measurement, numbers to 1000 and data management. 

In social studies, we will begin our study on changing families  and traditions  for Grade 2. We will creating projects  about these topics at the end of the month.  Information will be sent  home as the children will need to do some research at home.  Please save your shoe boxes. Grade 3 will be studying heritage and identity early communities in Canada. We will be creating special projects at the end of the month. Please save your shoeboxes and watch for updates.
