January News
Welcome back! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday. Winter weather is now upon us but it looks like it is going to be a mixed bag of weather. Please remember to send extra socks and mitts to help prevent wet feet and hands. Please label your child's items as we often have several items that go unclaimed.
We are lucky to have Mrs. Jahan a teacher candidate from the University of New Brunswick in our classroom until February 14th.
January 17th is a P.D. day. No school.
In language, we are continuing to develop our comprehension skills. We are beginning to work on reading responses and answering questions to what we have read. We will be writing personal narratives and learning about the text features of a narrative piece of writing. We will be learning how to write friendly and persuasive letters.
In math, we are working on addition and subtraction skills. Practicing addition and subtraction facts at home would be beneficial in developing these skills. We will be learning about 2D and 3D shapes and fractions later in the month.
In social studies, we are finishing our study on celebrations around the world will be comparing different holidays.
We will be starting our science unit on simple machines and movement. We have many fun hands on activities planned. We will need your help in providing some materials to help us make these activities successful. Required items are: cereal boxes, cardboard, elastics, dowels, straws tongue depressors, popsicle sticks and shoe boxes.
