Babb's Bridge was built in 1843. Near Babb's Farm, the bridge was built over the Presumpscott River, a river which journeyed from the sea to Sebago and naturally divided the two towns of Gorham and Windham. It is the oldest, as well as the shortest covered bridge in Maine. It was covered in order to prolong the life of the bridge and protect its timbers from the weather. Over the bridge, in Gorham, is what remains of the old Portland/Oxford Canal.
