Oscar E. Pecho is a Professor in Operative Dentistry, Restorative Dentistry, and Esthetic Dentistry at the University of Granada and is responsible for the Esthetic Dentistry subject. He has experience as a professor and supervisor in undergraduate degrees in Peru, Brazil, and Spain, as well as in graduate degrees in Brazil and Spain.
His academic path began at Cayetano Heredia Peruvian University, where he received his DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery). He holds an International PhD in Dentistry focused on Restorative Dentistry from the School of Dentistry at the University of Granada and completed a 3-month research stay at the University of Craiova in Romania. He has a postdoctoral training in Dental Materials at the University of Passo Fundo in Brazil. He has validated his DDS diploma in Spain and Brazil, and has clinical experience in those countries, as well as in Peru.
Oscar’s research focuses on color, color perception, and the optical properties of dental structures and various biomaterials used in Dentistry, as well as in Minimal Intervention Dentistry and Digital Dentistry. He has collaborated on different projects granted by national and international development agencies.
As a peer reviewer, he has collaborated in evaluating manuscripts for several high-impact journals, including the Journal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry, Dental Materials, the Journal of Dentistry, the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, and Clinical Oral Investigations, among others. He also belongs to the Editorial Board of the Journal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry.
Oscar is an active member of several relevant international dental societies, including the International Association for Dental Research (IADR), the Spanish Society of Conservative Dentistry (SEOC- Sociedad Española de Odontología Conservadora), the European Society for Cosmetic Dentistry (ESCD), among others. When he was living in Brazil, he was an active member of the Brazilian Group of Dental Materials (GBMD- Grupo Brasileiro de Materiais Dentários) and the Brazilian Group of Restorative Dentistry Professors (GBPD- Grupo Brasileiro de Professores de Dentística).
