I obtained a PhD in Physical Sciences with international distinction from the University of Granada, during which I completed a three-month research stay at the MedFUTURE Research Center for Advanced Medicine at the "Iuliu Hatieganu" University of Medicine and Pharmacy Cluj-Napoca, Romania.
Currently, as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Optics of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Granada, I am member of the FQM-151 and TEC-09 research groups, where I develop my research activity. This focuses on the optical and colorimetric characterization of natural human dental structures and biomimetic synthetic materials for use in restorative dentistry and regenerative medicine. Most of this research is done in collaboration with other departments and research groups of this institution, such as CTS-356, CTS115 and TIC117 among others, as well as international research centers and major institutions like the Houston Center for Biomaterials and Biomimetics, the Universidade Passo Fundo, the Federal University of Santa Maria and the "Iuliu Hatieganu" University of Medicine and Pharmacy Cluj-Napoca.
To date, I have published 33 articles in journals indexed in the Journal Citation Reports (JCR), earning over 800 citations and an h-index of 14. Additionally, I have made more than 50 contributions to international and national conferences. My research activity also includes serving as principal investigator for a regional research project and an institutional project, and participating as research team member in three national projects, one regional project and two research contracts with dental manufacturers. As a peer reviewer, I have reviewed for several scientific journals, all of which are indexed in the JCR with a high impact factor.
My teaching experience focuses on the clinical practice of optometry, specifically soft contact lenses and strabismic and non-strabismic binocular problems and their respective sensory adaptations.
