I graduated in Optics and Optometry from the University of Granada (Spain) in 2017. Later in 2019, I completed the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master in Color in Science and Industry, which included academic exchanges at University of Jean Monnet - Saint Etienne (France), University of Eastern Finland and a 6-months research stay in the Intelligent Lighting Laboratory in Monash University (Malaysia).
In 2020, I obtained a predoctoral fellowship from the University of Granada, sponsored by VITA Zahnfabrik H. Rauter GmbH & Co. KG (Germany), a leading company in the development of dental materials. My PhD project focused on the creation of algorithms to predict the color and optical properties of multilayer dental materials. As part of my doctoral training, I completed a 3-month research stay at the University of Passo Fundo, Brazil. In January 2023, I defended my thesis, receiving Cum Laude honors along with the distinctions of Industrial and International PhD.
I am currently holding a position of Assistant Professor at the Department of Optics of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Granada and an active member of the research groups FQM-151 (Department of Optics, UGR) and TEC-09 (ibs.Granada).
My current research focuses on objective color measurement and the development of optical techniques and methodologies for evaluating biomaterials, with applications in dentistry and tissue engineering. I collaborate with national and international research groups, including TIC-117, CTS-115, the Department of Stomatology at UGR, and institutions in Brazil, such as the School of Dentistry of the University of Passo Fundo (UPF) and the São Paulo State University (UNESP).
I have authored over 24 papers published in JCR-indexed journals, with 11 in the first decile and 5 in the first quartile. Additionally, I have published 2 conference proceedings indexed in the Scimago Journal Rank (SJR) and I have presented over 30 conference abstracts, earning over 300 citations and an h-index of 12. I've also contributed as a research team member in 6 projects funded by various national and regional Spanish authorities.
As a peer reviewer, I have evaluated manuscripts for several high-impact journals, including the Journal of Dentistry, Journal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry, Dental Materials, Optics Express and Expert Systems With Applications, among others.
In addition, I am a member of the Board of Directors of the Young Area of the Spanish Optical Society (SEDOPTICA), representing the Color Committee.
Regarding my teaching experience, I have taught both theoretical and practical courses in more than 10 subjects in the Optics and Optometry and Physics degree programs at UGR. I have also participated in 2 teaching innovation projects.
