In my junior year I was assigned to do my first UBD, which is a five day lesson plan, I was unaware of how much work a lesson plan for one week was until this assignment.
This lesson plan was very hard for me because I had to think of a lesson for a sixth grade history class and history is not my strognest subject. This lesson plan made me think and I really put time into it for the students to make it fun and not boring for the studetns. I really wanted to show the students that history can be fun and more than book work, which is what I always think of when I think of history assignments. I made this lesson to where it is interactive and research based, it also was one big project that the students got to present at the end of the week. I know know that if I were to get a job as a sixth grade history teacher I could make it just as fun as a second grade classroom.
Standard 2. Application of Content Through Planning
This artifact is evidence of growth because I had a well thought out lesson plan that involved reasearch as well as literacy into the lesson. Plan learning sequences that leverage social studies knowledge and literacies, technology, and theory and research to support the civic competence of learners. With the project that they presented at the end of the week the research was shown in the country they were given.
Standard 3. Design and Implementation of Instruction and Assessment
The assignments that were givent for the week were to engage learners in self-assessment practices that support individualized learning outcomes related to disciplinary knowledge, this allowed students to have their own answers and opinnions about what they were researching. The students also enjoyed going at their own pace.
Standard 6: Assessment
This lesson plan is designed to use multiple methods of assessment to engage learners in their own growth, to monitor learner progress. There are many assessments at the end of the day to check students on their redsearch to assure they are completeing the assignments because they are doing it on their own.
