In the "Rebel Teacher" program we got to attend the first day of school with our Clinical Instructors to see what the first day looks like for the teachers.
This experience was so amazing for me because I got to see how the students are when they first come in and see what all goes into the first few weeks of school. I saw so many nerves that were from teachers, not just studetns. This is something that I think is so important for student teachers to see, because it is not just show up and teach there is so much prepping that goes into the first day of school and the rest of the year.
Elementary Standards
Standard 3: Assessing, Planning, and Designing Contexts for Learning
This standard is an example of growth because with the first few days before school, my Clinical Instuctor and I planned the classroom out in ways that would benefit the students like assigned seats for example we also plan instruction and design classroom contexts for learning.
Standard 5: Developing as a Professional
As the teachers got ready for the first day there were meetings that were happening during the day and this made me think about my own personal classroom and how I want it to play out with learning styles and formats, this was a great reflective self-study and professional learning, and involvement in their professional community. This is something that i was so proud to get the opprotunity to do so when I do get a job I know what to expect on the first days a school before studetns get there.
