Our 3R Strategy is one of our key approaches – Reduce, Replace, Recycle. By developing innovative and renewable technologies, we are expanding our climate change mitigation products. Take, for instance, our recycled ester pellets (環保再生酯粒) made from PET (聚乙烯對苯二甲酸酯) bottles. This breakthrough reduces greenhouse gas emissions by an impressive 63% and finds applications across various industries, including food and non-food packaging, functional clothing, and more. Our commitment to Recycling goes beyond conventional methods. We've developed the FENC®TopGreen®ChemCycle, a revolutionary chemical recycling technology. This efficiently converts pure polyester (聚酯纖維) PET bottles and waste polyester products mixed with other components into recycled terephthalic acid (rPTA) (對苯二甲酸). This breakthrough allows us to produce high-quality polyester products while significantly reducing our dependence on petroleum-based (含石油的) raw materials.

FENC TopGreen Bio3-PET is a groundbreaking sustainable material developed in partnership with LanzaTech. The process begins by capturing waste gases from manufacturing plants, such as carbon dioxide (二氧化碳) and carbon monoxide (一氧化碳). These gases are then introduced into a bioreactor containing specific microorganisms. These microbes naturally metabolize the gases, converting them into ethanol (乙醇) through a metabolic pathway known as the LanzaTech process. The produced ethanol is purified and sent for further processing. In subsequent steps, the ethanol is transformed into monoethylene glycol (MEG) (單乙二醇) using conventional methods. Finally, the MEG is co-polymerized to create 100% recyclable PET, which can be used in various applications like packaging, footwear, apparel, and more. This innovative approach not only transforms pollution into a valuable resource but also offers a cost reduction of up to 20% compared to traditional methods.

In March 2022, the Wuxi Children's Welfare Home completed a new building, and Far Textile Industry (Wuxi) donated a sky farm atop its teaching building. This initiative aimed to reconnect urban children with nature, allowing them to cultivate vegetables, and fruits, and experience farming. After consulting with manufacturers, a donation ceremony occurred on May 30, with construction commencing in July. Despite challenges from the pandemic and high temperatures, the Sky Farm was successfully finished by September 8.

The "Corporate Sustainability Committee" under the Board of Directors was established on November 12, 2020. It is responsible for supervising the implementation of corporate sustainable development policies, systems, or related management policies, and regularly reporting the promotion status to the Board of Directors.
2020年11月12日成立董事會下「企業永續委員會」,負責督導企業永續發展政策、制度或相關管理方針之落實,並定期向董事會報告推動情形。
In July 2021, the board of directors appointed three members to the corporate sustainability committee: two independent directors and one outside director, with an independent director as the convener. They possess expertise in areas like corporate governance, public welfare operations, risk management, and strategic planning. The committee convened its inaugural meeting on October 21, 2021.
To enhance sustainable governance, the committee shifted its meeting frequency from annually to bi-annually in 2022, scheduling sessions for April 21 and October 14. General Manager Zheng Chengyu updated the committee on sustainability progress, initiatives, and projects, including releasing the Far Eastern New Century Sustainability Report and bolstering climate disclosures, human rights management, and sustainable finance. All resolutions received unanimous approval and were later reported to the board on May 10 and November 9 by the convener, Independent Director Lee Jong-hee.
In 2022, an audit of the committee's operations confirmed its adherence to the "Organizational Rules of the Corporate Sustainability Committee," verifying compliance without any identified deficiencies.
第二屆委員於2021年7月29日由董事會委任,由兩位獨立董事與一位外部董事組成,獨立董事擔任召集人。三名委員具備符合該委員會所需之永續專業能力,包括公司治理運作、公益組織經營、員工權益照顧、企業風險管理、企業策略規劃等,並於同年10月21日召開第一次會議。
為強化公司永續治理,2022年企業永續委員會會議召開頻率由年度改為每半年召開一次,分別於4月21日、10月14日召開第二屆第二次會議與第三次會議。由本公司「企業永續推行委員會」召集人行政總部鄭澄宇總經理向三位委員報告本公司永續發展進程以及執行永續專案與績效,包含出版遠東新世紀永續報告書、加強氣候相關財務揭露、強化人權風險管理、發展永續金融商品、精進循環經濟與低碳製程、推動溫室氣體盤查及查證、投入社會參與專案等,所有會議議案均經全體出席委員同意通過,並由企業永續委員會召集人李鍾熙獨立董事分別於5月10日、11月9日董事會向全體出席董事報告。
2022年本公司稽核單位依據《企業永續委員會組織規程》規範,稽核企業永續委員會運作情況,確認本公司有關委員會組成、職權事項、委員會召集會議、議事作業等均符合規範,無發現任何缺失。

Adhering to international standards, we also evaluate climate change risks.
