Nova Scotia Health offers a wide variety of programs related to health and wellness for guardians. For more information, please visit their website, or call 1-844-491-5890.

The IWK Health Centre provides many programs for guardians which cover topics such as wellness navigation, the Incredible Years, Handle with Care, and how to support your child if they are experiencing anxiety. For more information, please visit their website, or call 902-460-4560.

The Tantallon Public Library provides more than just free access to a wide variety of books, but they also host events such as cooking classes, information sessions and various book clubs. For more information, please visit their website or contact them directly: (902) 826-3330.


Mi'kmaw Native Friendship Centre offers support to Indigenous families through a wide variety of services in order to connect with their Indigenous culture.

The Halifax Regional Municipality offers the Affordable Access Program which offers subsidized access to recreational activities. For more information, please visit their website, or call 311.

Handle with Care is a simple interactive program to help parents and caregivers, including those who work in early childhood settings, to promote the mental health of young children from birth to 6 years. For more information, please visit their website.

The Incredible Years delivers evidence-based programs and materials that develop positive parent-teacher-child relationships and assist in preventing and treating behavior problems and promoting social, emotional, and academic competence before a child becomes an adult.

Jordan's Principle makes sure all First Nations children living in Canada can access the products, services and supports they need, when they need them. Funding can help with a wide range of health, social and educational needs, including the unique needs that First Nations Two-Spirit and LGBTQQIA children and youth and those with disabilities may have. Halifax Refugee Services provides education, legal and settlement services to refugee claimants who are unable to afford a private lawyer. For more information, please visit their website or call (902) 422-6736.

FYi doctors has a program called Better Sights, Better Grades which provides children 13 years and younger, who may be having vision problems and who lack the means to afford proper care. Strongest Families Institute offers free of charge, online programs for youth/children/adults and families re: anxiety, stress and pain management, excessive worry, bed wetting, and parenting programs. For more information, please visit their website or contact them directly at 1-866-470-7111.


A self-help mental health program from the Canadian Mental Health Association that helps you manage low-mood, depression, or anxiety and feel better at your own pace from the comfort of home. Nova Scotia 211 offers 24/7 navigational assistance in over 100 languages, connecting Nova Scotian's experiencing unmet social or human needs with organizations able to meet those needs. For more information, please visit their website or call them directly at 211.


The Couch of Hope offers free therapy sessions to individuals who are aged 10 and up. Sessions are 50 minutes in duration, option for in-person, video or phone. To register either call/text 902-707-4414 or email intake@couchofhope.com.
