Sunday to Thursday 5:30pm to 9:30pm (Grades 7-12)
Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays 530pm to 630pm (Grades 4-6)
NOTE: Though there are many ideas listed below, you are encouraged to select activities that are interesting and engaging for your child. The goal is to provide children with opportunities to use the French they have learned. No evaluation is linked to any of these home learning experiences.

Kayak is a magazine published by Canadahistory.ca. Each month they feature a cultural or historical element of Canada and the people who live here.

Halifax public E-library is open!
All you need is a digital library card to access resources in English and French. You can sign up for a digital library card and use it to borrow books, videos, music and access lots of other great resources from home. (Gr. P-12)
Low-tech/offline ideas
Encourage your child to listen a radio in French in your area and to make a list of the familiar French words they hear. (Gr. P-12)
Have your child call a friend on the telephone. Ask your child to describe their activities of the day to their friend and suggest an activity that their friend can do to stay active in French. (Gr. P-12)
Have your child write a postcard or greeting card to send to a friend. Your child may describe an activity that is being done at home, ask their friend questions about their activities and suggest ways that they can stay connected from home. (Gr. 2-9)
Choose a DVD/video you may have at home and change the settings to French. (Gr. P-12)
Ask your child to teach you or a sibling how to say some sentences in French that they have learned. (Gr. P-12)
Start a Nature journal. Children can keep a biweekly journal to record the changes in the environment through pictures and words. (Gr. 4-10)
Your student can teach you and/or other family members how to play a game in French (Gr. P-12)
Reading - Look at some of the products in your kitchen. Are there recipes in French you can make? (Gr. 3-8)
Using a book you read recently, summarize the story as a comic strip in French (Gr. 4-12)
Rewrite a fairy tale or other children's story from memory in French
Students can use the melody of their favorite song and change the lyrics so that they are in French.
Have your child choose a topic and create a 1-minute monologue. If possible, they can record themself and choose 2 areas to work on.
Students may wish to keep a daily journal. They could write about likes and dislikes, their feelings about being at home, etc.
Write a new ending to your favorite story (4-12).
