Learning About the Past
October/November - This month we are discussing the various sources that are used in order to learn about the past. The students will learn about primary sources and secondary sources and will explore how we use them to discover more about past events. We will look at various examples of artefacts and students will try to figure out what they were used for. We will also focus on building our vocabulary throughout this unit by using various tech tools to represent the new words that we will be using.
September -Orange Shirt Day
The students listened to stories and viewed pictures and videos about why we have Orange Shirt Day. We had some very powerful and meaningful discussions about residential schools and how they impacted so many First Nation and Inuit families. We shared what we learned through video responses, class discussions, and these beautiful representations of what was lost.
