Forces & Simple Machines

We have been learning about the six types of simple machines. The students used their knowledge of the simple machines to create Leprechaun Traps that incorporated three machines. We are also learning about how the forces move objects.

States of Matter

We have been learning about states of matter in Science. The students are able to describe the properties of the three states of matter and they can identify examples of each. We also explored the difference between physical and chemical changes or reactions. The class has participated in many experiments and at times the classroom has become a messy lab! Some of the experiments have included: Oobleck, Elephant toothpaste, Mentos & Coke, baking soda and vinegar, etc.

Weather/The Water Cycle

Over the past month we have been working through our unit on weather. The students have learned about different types of weather systems and storms, the types of clouds, instruments used by meteorologists, and the water cycle. We have created our own representations of the water cycle and have been watching the water condense and roll down the bag like precipitation.
