The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development is pleased to announce Take Our Kids to Work Day (TOKWD) will be held November 4, 2026. We are excited to work again with the Students Commission of Canada who create virtual TOKWD experiences. This day has proven to be an excellent opportunity for schools to support valuable career exploration experiences for grade 9 students and their families.
As in past years, Take Our Kids to Work Day may be organized by a school staff member such as a school counselor, teacher, or administrator. If a school decides to participate in TOKWD, students will be expected to participate in this career exploration opportunity or to attend school.
Required Forms as per Community Based Learning Policy:
Students going with a family member or authorized RCE/CSAP personnel, such as a school administrator, teacher, teacher assistant, or other staff member as approved by the principal are required to fill out aSchool Activity Consent Form.
Students going with someone other than a family member or authorized RCE/CSAP personnel, are required to fill out the Regional/ Board School Activity Consent Form and theCBL Risk Assessment Form.
Schools are encouraged to provide a diverse, engaging, and meaningful career exploration experience for students who are unable to participate in TOKWD. Schools may have local resources and ideas for those students, for example, guest speakers or employer panels. You are encouraged to reach out to your Nova Scotia Works School Liaison. They are a valuable resource and can help facilitate connections, organize school-based TOKTWD events and provide resources for this day.
