Bay View High School Counsellors will present information on course selection to students
From Feb 23 onward students will enter their course selection in Powerschool Students ( in ELA class) .
High School in NS uses the course credit system. Each course is 1 credit ( math academic is 2 credits). High School uses semesters, the school year is divided into two semesters: September to January and February to June. Four courses are taken each semester. Each course consists of at least 110 hours of instruction. Students will write final exams at the end of each semester.
Students choose 8 credits in grade 10 year (at least one course must be a grade 11 credit). No more than 7 can be a grade 10 level, they must choose at least one grade 11 level course ( you can choose more than one grade 11 course).
To do any of the trades you must do Skilled Trades 10 first or Services Trades 10 first. There is a skilled trades module I created below to help understand this fantastic opportunity.
If you were accepted into O2 your courses will be changed by the high school. All students will complete 21 credits in the high school to graduate with a high school certificate.
