Beginning Band Without Barriers
Band instruments can be rented or purchased at Long and McQuade. They offer student rates as well as rent-to-own options and instrument protection coverage for repairs. Repair protection coverage is reccommended as it is common for beginner band students to require minor repairs.
You can visit their webiste and view the school band rental brochure below.
If you are looking at obtaining an instrument from another source (second hand or a non-music store), please keep in mind that the quality and condition of the intrument may not be guaranteed to be in good working order, and any repairs required may be expensive. If you are considering this option, do not hesitate to contact me if you wish to discuss it in more detail before purchasing.
Halifax Regional Arts offers free instrument loans to families who require financial assistance within the Halifax Regional Centre for Education. This includes free instrument repairs. This allows for all students to have the opportunity to participate in band without financial barriers in place.
If you require financial assistance in obtaining a band instrument rental, please contact me via email to request an instrument loan from Halifax Regional Arts. These instruments will be distributed to students in September and returned in June.
