A snare drum is a short cylinder with a drumhead at each end. They come in different shapes and sizes and are used to play a wide vareity of musical styles and genres. The top head is struck with drumsticks and the bottom head has snares that vibrate when hit, to provide the distinct snare sound. Below is a diagram of each part of the snare drum.Â
