Safe Arrival and Dismissal Plan

Safe Arrival and Dismissal Plan

I would like to take this opportunity to share with families our safe arrival and dismissal plan. If your child is going to be off sick, we please ask that you notify the office first thing in the morning. If there is a change in dismissal plans we kindly ask that you notify the teacher in writing of the change of plans so we can ensure students get home safely. We understand that emergencies and plans can change quickly, and we will accommodate this, to the best of our ability.

Bell Times - Our bell times for PP to grade 12 are from 8:55 to 2:55 regardless if children are being picked up, taking the bus or walking home. This applies to all pre-primary children and grade level students from primary through grade 12. Having the same dismissal time for all students makes it easier for those families who have students in multiple grades.

With the inclement weather soon upon us we would like to make our dismissal procedure as seamless as possible.

If you are picking up a pre-primary child, we ask you not to enter the building earlier than 2:50. Pre-Primary staff will walk the children to the cafeteria to meet up with parent/guardian and/or caregiver. This will allow for less congestion in the hallways and help us to keep better track of who is in the building.

One teacher from the P to 4 wing will also escort the Primary to 4 students to the front door. The rest of the teachers will help to ensure that students board the correct bus.

Our resource teacher will then take all those students who go Bold to a different section of the cafeteria, and they will be dismissed with walkers once all the traffic has cleared.

Instructional time is very important to us, and we try to protect it as much as possible. Students arriving late and leaving early is a disruption not only to instructional time but to the daily operations of the school. If for some reason they are late we ask them to come to the office and get a “We are glad you are here!”slip. Please take a moment to look at the infographic below to see how 20 minutes of reading impacts students' academic achievement.

We very much appreciate your cooperation in this matter.
