Baddeck Youth Health Centre

Open every Monday, Friday and every second Wednesday

  The Youth Health Centre is a safe space where any youth aged 12-19 can receive confidential, non-judgmental information and support for:

·         Feelings of sadness, anxiety or depression

·         Issues at home (divorce, fighting, physical, emotional or sexual abuse)

·         Suicidal thoughts or self-harming behavior

·         Issues with smoking, drinking, vaping

·         Feelings of anger or stress

·         Problems with relationships or low self-esteem

·         Difficulty coping with school, a breakup or life in general.

·         Confusion about sexual orientation or gender identity

·         Needing resources on accessing food, clothing, personal health items (toothbrush, deodorant, pads/tampons) etc.

·         Obtaining employment (writing a resume, applying for a job, volunteer opportunities)

 

The clinical services offered at the Youth Health Centre include:

 

·         Screening/treatment of sexually transmitted infections

·         Pregnancy testing

·         Education and provision of various birth control options, including emergency contraceptive pill

·         Education and support with planned or unplanned pregnancies

·         Mental health screening and referrals to social workers, dieticians, addiction/mental health services etc.

·         Monthly physician visits (on a Tuesday)
