Middle Level Writing Exemplars

Throughout 2023-2024, AVRCE middle level ELA teachers began seeking to improve student writing outcomes by first developing consistency in their scoring of student writing. This led to the creation and implementation of common writing assessments across the region, which led to two collaborative scoring sessions in January and March 2024. This bank of student writing is a result of that work. These samples are meant to be used as exemplars and teaching tools in the classroom.
