Throughout the 2023-2024 academic year, AVRCE middle level teachers worked toward developing consistency in their assessment of student writing. The following assessments were common tools used in that process. These are designed to be short, primarily independent assessments that provide helpful benchmark information about students' writing at a point in time. They can be scored using the Nova Scotia Analytic Writing Rubric, which is provided below.
