Need help with Mathematics?

The Nova Scotia Homework Hub

The Nova Scotia Homework Hub to support students in grades 9,10, and 11 mathematics is now ready for use!

What is the Nova Scotia Homework Hub?

The Nova Scotia Homework Hub is an exciting online platform that offers resources and free tutoring for students enrolled in grade 9,10, or 11 mathematics courses. Students can have a 1:1 session with a tutor, in French or English, via an online whiteboard, or by calling in on the phone. Students can also access additional learning resources that include video lessons, practice exercises, quizzes with instant feedback, digital versions of the mathematics textbooks, where available, and a scientific and graphing calculator.

How do students access the Nova Scotia Homework Hub?

They can login to their gnspes account and click on the Homework Hub icon. Students and teachers of all Mathematics courses from grades 10-11 have Nova Scotia Homework Hub access at this time, and grade 9 students will have access beginning on November 14th.

What can a student expect from a tutoring session?

Students will have access to tutors from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sunday to Thursday. Each tutoring session is a maximum of 20 minutes, although this can be extended by the tutor as needed. All tutors are qualified Nova Scotia teachers or teachers in training. Students can use a textbox and audio with the tutor. There is no limit to the number of times a student can access a tutor. Tutors will not do homework for students, but will help to support them in their learning.  Tutors are also able to clarify important concepts introduced in the classroom.

Intimate images and cyber-protection: support for victims

If you’ve been bullied online or had intimate pictures of you shared without your consent, you’re protected under the law. The Intimate Images and Cyber-Protection Act aims to discourage people from bullying others online or by text or email, and from sharing intimate images of someone without their consent. The act also gives victims a way to respond when these things happen. If you believe you are the victim of cyberbullying or that an intimate image of you was shared without your consent, CyberScan can help.
