Science Central is dedicated to learning through doing with purpose.

We focus on supporting the classroom teacher with engaging, timely and relevant math applications, science investigations and engineering projects.

We provide students with opportunities to demonstrate their excitement with questions and learning, explain their observations with clarity, and develop a newly found honest understanding of the causes and effects inherent in natural phenomena and the built world.

Science Central is composed of 5 laboratory and workshop spaces within O'Maley Innovation Middle School. Three of the 800 sq ft rooms, the Biolab, Granite Lab and Design Lab, are arranged as a suite and share a 1,200 sq ft common atrium. Our  Birdseye-Hammond Technology Room (think tooling and materials) is located just down the hall in another 1,000 sq ft classroom.

The definitions below, from Oxford English Language, provide our context for setting academics to vocation;

Technology - the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes, especially in industry - machinery and equipment developed from the application of scientific knowledge - the branch of knowledge dealing with engineering -  or applied science.

Engineering - the branch of science and technology concerned with the design, building, and use of engines, machines, and structures - the work done by, or the occupation of, an engineer - the action of working artfully to bring something about.

Mathematics - the abstract science of number, quantity, and space. -  mathematics may be studied in its own right ( pure mathematics ), or as it is applied to other disciplines such as physics and engineering ( applied mathematics ).
