Wilson Intern Scholarship

The Wilson Intern program was established in memory of Barbara Wilson and honors her interest in science education. The program creates an opportunity for science majors from Salem State University to work in the BioLab , with O'Maley students, as mentors and role models. The program continues now in memory of both Barbara and her husband, beloved philanthropist Dick Wilson. 

Sarah Ponte

January 2024-

Sarah is a junior at Salem State University majoring in Biotechnology with a minor in Chemistry. Sarah also works as a veterinary technician when is not in class, studying or working with students at O'Maley.

Chris Perry

December 2022-present

Chris (pictured here with the indomitable Maggie Rosa) started as a Wilson Intern his senior year at Salem State University. After graduating in May 2023, Chris has continued on in the Science Center as the Resident Scientist, working with students in all grades.


Alyssa Genness

2021/2022 School Year

Alyssa worked with O'Maley students as both a student teacher and a Wilson Intern. Alyssa is enrolled in the 4 + 1 program at Salem State University, pursuing an undergraduate degree in Biology and a Master of Education degree.

Mariah Shannon

2019/2020 School Year

Mariah finished her role as Wilson Intern in March of 2020 when schools closed due to the pandemic. She returned in the fall of 2020 as a 6th grade science teacher at O'Maley. After 3 years teaching 6th grade, Mariah is joining the 7th grade science team.

Jevin Corrado

2019/2020 School Year

Jevin worked with Mariah as the second Wilson Intern. Jevin is currently employed by Amgen as a Process Development Associate.

Lia Anderholm

2018/2019 School Year

Lia finished her graduation requirements for Salem State University  with an independent study of aquaponics in the BioLab. After graduating, she continued on in the lab as the first Wilson Intern, helping launch the 8th grade Aquaponics program. Lia is currently employed at Cell Signaling as a Research Associate II.

DICk Wilson Day 10/11/2023

Mayor Greg Verga proclaimed October 11, 2023 Dick Wilson Day in a ceremony at Newell Stadium. The ceremony honored Dick's commitment to Gloucester and his tireless pursuit to 'upsize' all the good he saw in the community he loved.
