The need to help facilitate your child's distance learning may seem overwhelming. We are here to help. Every Goochland Team member is dedicated to the success of your child during this school year. There are things you can do at home to help your child be successful during distance learning as well as during any time or type of learning.

- Involve your child in selecting a learning space.
- Choose a spot that is free from constant distractions.
- Choose a spot that has a flat work surface to hold a device and to use for writing or drawing.
- Choose a spot where you are able to monitor your child but can also do your own work and tasks.
- Stock the learning space with necessary materials for completing activities and assignments.
- Post your child's daily schedule for learning and other activities such as morning routine, chores, play/free time, and family activities.
- Make the space comfortable and ergonomic for sitting during live (synchronous) sessions with the teacher.
- Allow your child to decorate the space to make it more personalized and inviting.

Short breaks are worked into each student's schedule, no matter which grade level. Providing options for your child during these breaks will help your child stay engaged and on track with their online learning.
- Listen to or play music
- Meditation or breathing exercises
- Stretching or yoga
- Eat a healthy snack
- Logic or table puzzles
- Drawing, painting, coloring, or other crafting
- Read for fun
- Take a quick walk or run around the house
- Play with a pet or sibling
