What is Kooth?
Kooth is a free online mental health and wellbeing service for young people. It is NHS‑commissioned in many areas of the UK and provides confidential support without the need for referrals, waiting lists or diagnoses. Kooth is designed to be accessible and supportive, particularly for young people who may find it difficult to talk face‑to‑face about their feelings.
Who is Kooth for?
Kooth can support young people with a wide range of issues, including:
Anxiety or low mood
Stress or exam pressure
Friendship or relationship difficulties
Bullying or online issues
Family worries
Confidence and self‑esteem
What support does Kooth offer?
1‑to‑1 professional support
Text‑based chats with trained and qualified counsellors
Sessions are confidential and take place outside school hours, including evenings and weekends
How does Kooth fit with school support?
Kooth does not replace school or NHS services. It works best as part of a wider support network and can be especially helpful:
While young people are waiting for other support If they prefer online support
For early help before difficulties escalate
A message for parents
Kooth offers young people a private, non‑judgemental space to talk through worries and learn coping strategies. Many young people find it easier to open up online, particularly outside school hours.
If you are concerned about your child’s wellbeing, Kooth can be a helpful source of additional support alongside home and school For more information, please visit: https://www.kooth.com/
