The competition involves people across our communities - whether a member of Soirbheas or not - to showcase the things that make Glen Urquhart and Strathglass special. This year we have Theme 1 for amateur photographers, Theme 2 for amateur photographers who are members of a group, and Theme 3 for both amateur and professional photographers. There are two classes - one for adults, the other for under 18's.

Spring – what do new beginnings in Spring mean to you? Could be weather, flowers, animals, a time for rebirth or awakening. This theme is open to all residents who are amateur photographers. Under 18’s and Adult categories.
Unwinding – a celebration of local groups and organisations showing how they like to unwind, take a break, spend some quality time together. This theme is open to all residents who are amateur photographers and members of a group. Under 18’s and Adult categories.

14/3/2023 - Transport to Childcare – now available!
As discussed at our recent Parent Council meeting, we are delighted to have secured free transport to Glen Urquhart Childcare Centre for our families to access afterschool childcare. Transport is also available from the Breakfast Club at the Childcare Centre to Balnain Primary for the start of our school day, should any of our families wish to use this service. Thanks to Russell Fraser at The Hub, Drumnadrochit for assisting us to establish this valuable provision, which is now available to all our families. Should anyone wish to use this service, we request that you contact our school office in the first instance, and we will liaise with The Hub to book transport for you. It would be helpful if families could try to book transport places a week in advance if possible.
Please contact Glen Urquhart Childcare Centre directly to discuss your afterschool childcare needs: 01456 450 679
https://www.glenurquhartchildcarecentre.com/
We really hope that this transport provision will support our families to access childcare when required.

13/3/23 - Red Nose Day
Our P6/7 pupils are leading this event and have planned some exciting activities for Red Nose Day on Friday 17th March:
Pupils are invited to dress down (or dress up!) for a non-uniform day, for a suggested donation of £1.
They will also be organising a playtime bake sale and would really welcome any donations of home baking for this. Cakes will be priced from 20p-50p.
P6/7 have considered an eco-friendly alternative to buying red-noses and are offering to use face-paints to paint red noses on pupils instead!
Please let us know if you do not give permission for your child to have a face-painted red nose before Friday 17th.
We would like to raise money for Comic Relief as we know that this charity supports many children locally, nationally and globally, to improve their standard of living and access their rights.
Thanks for your support!
From Dubhgal, Gemma and Emily

20/12/22 - We would like to remind families that we have signed up to be a drop-off collection point for Terracycle. We can recycle plastic confectionary wrappers that would otherwise end up in landfill! Terracycle can reuse the plastic from confectionary wrappers and create new products such as garden furniture with them.
Please support our eco efforts and collect confectionary wrappers, especially over the Christmas holidays, and drop them off in our Terracycle bin located in our front porch at school. Please note that foil can now be recycled at home in blue recycle bins.
Anyone can use our drop-off bin at any time during school opening hours.
Please spread the word and encourage friends, relatives and community members to do the same. Collectively we can make a difference!
This supports our Rights Respecting endeavours outlined in UNCRC Article 24, which describes the right to a clean environment and UNCRC Article 29, which outlines the aims of education and for children to develop respect for the natural environment. This also supports the UN Sustainable Development Goal number 12, relating to responsible consumption and production.
Thank you for your support!
