Balnain Primary School is situated in the beautiful rural locality of Glen Urquhart, close to the community of Drumnadrochit. Health promotion and an active lifestyle is a special feature of the school and its extensive playground areas creates a stimulating environment out of doors.
We are committed to providing all our pupils with a positive and rewarding primary education which is planned to provide rich experiences, skills and knowledge on the journey of lifelong learning. Pupils, parents and staff are all part of a vibrant school community in Balnain. Many of our former pupils and families continue to keep in touch and continue to support our school. Strong links between home and school help children become successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors to the world.

We would like to thank our Nominator(s) for the Highland Heros Primary School of the Year and we attending the event at the Drummosie Hotel last Friday night. Unfortunately we did not win, congratulations to Merkinch Primary School but we felt like winners just be invited to the event. A fantastic time was had by all. 14/3/2023 Transport to Childcare – now available!
As discussed at our recent Parent Council meeting, we are delighted to have secured free transport to Glen Urquhart Childcare Centre for our families to access afterschool childcare. Transport is also available from the Breakfast Club at the Childcare Centre to Balnain Primary for the start of our school day, should any of our families wish to use this service. Thanks to Russell Fraser at The Hub, Drumnadrochit for assisting us to establish this valuable provision, which is now available to all our families. Should anyone wish to use this service, we request that you contact our school office in the first instance, and we will liaise with The Hub to book transport for you. It would be helpful if families could try to book transport places a week in advance if possible.
