Contact Information
Contact and emergency telephone numbers must be provided for each student. Please ensure that these numbers are kept up to date, for example, if there is a change of domestic helper, or if a designated emergency contact leaves Hong Kong. These should be updated via our online data portal, Gateway. Instructions, access and passwords to Gateway will be shared with you via email before your child starts school.
Once you have received your Gateway access, it is very important that parents download the ESF App as it will be the main method of all communications from the school and from ESF.
Important notes:
Before your child can attend school, you will need to complete and sign the Health and Travel Declaration Form, which is located on the App.
With students returning to the school site, you will need to register your child’s temperature and RAT result on the ESF App every day before your child sets out to school.
Later in the year the App will contain further information about accessing your child’s school report along with it being used to notify parents of events and provide reminders and key foundation wide messages. If you have any questions about using the App, please contact tech@glenealy.edu.hk.
The App can be found through these links or through the App store:
Medical Information
At the beginning of every academic year, parents will be reminded to review and update their child’s medical information via Gateway to ensure that it is correct.
Medication in School
If it is necessary for a student to take medicine during school hours, this should be brought directly to the Medical room. Under no circumstances will medication be given to students at school without a completed Medication Authorisation form, signed by a parent.
Nuts
Glenealy School is a ‘NUT FREE ZONE’. We have several students with severe allergies to peanuts/nut based products, therefore we seek your assistance in ensuring that your child’s snack and lunch boxes do not contain these foods.
Illness and accidents in school
If a student is unwell, or has an accident that warrants parental involvement, first contact will be made by telephone. If there is any difficulty contacting parents or designated emergency contacts, the school will act in ‘loco-parentis’ and appropriate action will be taken. Where a student’s medical needs are judged to be minor, the School Nurse will administer appropriate treatment.
If a student has a high temperature (above 37.4 degrees Celsius) , or has suffered from vomiting or diarrhoea, they should remain at home for 48 hours after symptoms have subsided.
If a student requires transportation to a hospital, an ambulance will be called. As of November 2010 an ambulance will only take patients to the closest public hospital, not a hospital of your choice.
Notification of Absence
Illness - If a student is absent from school due to illness, please use the ‘absence tab’ in the ESF App to record the reason for your child’s absence.
When you click on this tab an email will open up and you can add information here and when sent, it will automatically be shared with our School Nurse and the relevant class teacher.
Parents may also inform the school by telephone 25221919 or email nurse@glenealy.edu.hk. Parents will receive a courtesy phone call from the School Nurse when any unexplained absence exceeds two days.
Leave outside of School Holidays
If you are intending to take planned leave outside the school holidays, please email the Principal chris.coyle@glenealy.edu.hk or enquiry@glenealy.edu.hk with the details.
