The school is organised into 12 mixed ability classes, with two classes at each level. Our teachers are highly qualified PYP teachers who come from a range of international backgrounds.
Glenealy School offers your child a well-rounded education. In addition to our classroom based teachers and educational assistants, we have teachers who specialise in the areas of Music, Physical Education and Modern Chinese.
Each lesson in the weekly schedule is 45 minutes long.
All year groups have twice weekly P.E. and Music lessons. Children in Years 1 and 2 have three weekly lessons of Modern Chinese and Years 3 – 6 have daily Modern Chinese lessons. Children should come to school dressed in their P.E. kit on the day they have P.E. lessons
What do you need to bring to school?
The school provides books, paper, pens, pencils and all essential materials so that children are not obliged to bring these items. During these heightened times of health and safety however, if your child would like to bring in their own pencil case with personal stationary, they are welcome to do so. The older children will be given a list of any items that may be specifically required for their year group at the beginning of the academic year or when they join the school.
Parents are asked to provide two snacks in reusable plastic containers and water must be brought in metal or plastic bottles., which can be refilled at school. Please make sure your child's water bottles and snack boxes are clearly labelled.
Students Arrival and Departure
School starts at 8:30 am, with school staff on duty in the lower playground for temperature checks from 8:15 am onwards.
Staircases used in the morning, during the day for two snack breaks and in the afternoon for dismissal:
Years 3 & 6 students use the Stairwell 1 (to the left of the main entrance)
Years 2 & 5 use Stairwell 2 (in the centre of the playground)
Years 1 & 4 use Stairwell 3 (at the far end of the playground)
During 'normal' school times we ask that students do not arrive earlier than 8:15 am
School ends between 2:45 pm and 3:00 pm. Parents will be invited into school via the Main Gate when it is time for their year group to be picked up. They will need to temperature check and will follow the socially distanced, one way system, exiting via the rear Car Park Gate.
If you are picking up children from multiple year groups please enter when the older child's year group is called.
Students using the school buses will go directly to their buses through the gate in the covered car park. School bus information is available online via this link: https://school.kcm.com.hk/gjs/
The arrangements at 'drop off' and 'pick up' times during the Covid-19 restrictions can be found on this page of the Return to School website here.

Emergency Drills
These are conducted regularly each year to ensure children, staff and visitors to the school are aware of the relevant actions to take in case of an evacuation, lock down or earthquake. All visitors must sign in at the School Office and get a lanyard for identification whilst visiting school during operational hours to ensure the safety of all the students, staff and visitors.
