THE NEW DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES CURRICULUM IS BEING IMPLEMENTED THIS YEAR IN SCHOOLS ACROSS AOTEAROA
In 2017 it was flagged to schools that by 2020 they would be required to teach the new DTHM curriculum as a way to get NZ students to become creators of digital content rather than just users. The new DTHM curriculum consists of two main parts - Computational Thinking (CT) and Design and develop digital outcomes (DDDO). There have been a number of resources created by ERO - which can be found below, that have tried to make this transition clearer. The ready, set, go document is a helpful document to help schools determine where they are in their DTHM journey and what criteria can help facilitate that journey. The Digital Technology Teacher's Association (DDTA) is an invaluable resource for the many teachers who have been thrown into the deep end with teaching in this new area.
