As the pace of technological change speeds up, we now have to focus more time and resources into helping our educators gain the skills necessary to start teaching in the twenty first century. A time when students will have ever higher levels of digital literacy and the digital applications available allow us to reinvent how we educate.
Once a school starts to seriously look into digital fluency it will become apparent that digital transformation requires a multipronged and comprehensive approach. Google, Microsoft and Apple have all established very similar approaches to digital transformation and you can find more information about this here.
Once an educator starts to become digitally fluent they will become more and more confident and start moving along the SAMR continuum that starts with substitution and ends with a redefinition of what can be done in the classroom and beyond.
There is much happening at the intersection of education and digital fluency within the Tūranganui-a-kiwa region and one of my challenges is to make sure that these opportunities are maximised. For example we have the Manaiakalani cluster of schools - which is set to expand. We have a wealth of local talent as well as organisations such Tonui colab and outside providers like Core education, Cognition education and Digital Circus that may fit with your needs as a school.
