Course Description:
2 Semester 1 credit Year Long Class Grades 10-12
Prerequisite: Teacher Approval Required to enroll. Maximum 8 Students in this course.
The Agricultural Machinery Enhancement & Development class will cover a study of the many different machines used on farms today. The main focus of the course will be a complete restoration of an antique tractor. Students will conduct a complete tear down of a tractor and rebuild/restore. During this process, attention will be given to the engine, electrical systems, cooling systems, drive train, painting, and body work. Competencies learned during the restoration process will be proper use of a tool shop, safety, organization of hardware and equipment during restoration, troubleshooting and problem solving, and using manuals. The course will also feature a brief look at the history of tractors and implements used in agriculture and their evolution.
